When you take a photo, your eyes are not involved (apart from setting up the camera). The light comes from the source and goes through the camera lens onto the film or camera sensor, your eyes are not a factor at that point.

Don’t put it in /usr/bin, that’s where your package manager puts executables, not you. Other than that, do what you want. /usr/local/bin is good, or if it’s only for your user ~/bin, ~/local/bin or ~/.local/bin - I don’t care. Also just let your users decide where they want to put the script.

If you wipe the device and didn’t turn Wifi on, you have the old versions of all factory installed apps. Once you turn on WiFi, all of them will update.
