I think most all of us here on Lemmy are people with technical background. Most of my professional contacts remained using Reddit, Twitter and even excited when Threads launched.

How’d you end up in that career?
Turns out a maths Master’s isn’t specific enough for most jobs I applied for. I eventually got fed up with the ridiculously long application processes and took the easy route.
My truck driving cousin likewise has BS in physics and a masters in education
