this is that mage girl oc i drew a few months ago. her name is meldora and i have the drawings posted some time ago. i hope the webm worked. had to compress it so hard because of lemmygrad’s file size limit of about 1mb or less, i can’t even tell exactly because this is 821.7kbs. this shows that i can use it for vtuber-ing, but i do not have the proper stuff for it lol
this was first made in one week. drawing took two days, the other days were for rigging. i was sick at work at the time so i felt like making that. i do not plan to stream or anything because of privacy and shit but i do edit some bangers for my friends
software used: krita for the drawing, inochi2d for the rigging. i used openseeface to track my face but it’s not really good due to my very bad webcam. kinda chugs my rig too.
hair physics were added too. also tongue and like two emotes
here are some screenshots of a few facial expressions

that is the big post i wanted to make. thank you lmao
That’s kind of super cool.
thank you!
Cool!
thank you very much, sorosfootsoldier!! haven’t heard from you in a while lol
Neat, how does the animating work? Do you make different layers for like “eyelid” and stuff?
thank you!!
also about the layers stuff, yea! you actually got that right
each part is a separate layer and they are all sandwiched together and warped by inochi2d. other vtubers use live2d which works roughly the same way, but inochi is foss and fully free to use
the animation works by tracking your face with either openseeface, vtuber studio or whatever thing you have around. leapmotion apparently is a thing but come on i am not made of money. yes, this is a fully functional vtuber avatar
Love your stuff lelkins. Also TIL about inochi2d. Now I kinda want to animate my own doodles!
Where bald toggle?
Joking aside, that is seriously impressive! Especially the rigging work, that always seems like the most complicated part to the process.

i forgot the staple. i genuinely didn’t think of adding this
also thank you very much for the kind words! the drawing was somehow easier. rigging took more time. doesn’t help that i made one a few years ago, back in 2022
To my understanding, that’s how it normally is. Some of the more hyper-detailed models have their art done in a month or two, but then it’s 6-12 months with the rigger. Major props for working both halves.
gotta show my more detailed model

this took a few weeks, but not one week or two like the meldora model. this is my other oc, named amy. yea, this is the 2022 model. my artstyle got worse, i know
Very nice :D
thanks mate :D
The blushing teretere meldora is v cute

thank you! i had to look up that word
That’s impressive. While I know nothing about VTuber rigging (and have no particular interest in it), I still find it fascinating. It reminds me of a fan game I play called Chrono Gear: Warden of Time; I haven’t even finished it yet, and I don’t know any of the characters or the lore, but it’s a great game. It just goes to show that good work is good, regardless of context!
Oh, and about the modpack. Call me weird, but I like to play everything with a controller, including minecrap of course. The problem is that this version of the modpack doesn’t support controllers, so I’ve had to scrap the idea of playing on older versions of the game, at least any that are too old to have controller support. The idea of playing an old version is still neat, though! It would help prevent me from getting overwhelmed by objectives and let me just focus on enjoying the experience, which is a very good thing!
thank you! i never watched a vtuber, i am interested in the tech instead.
heard holocure is a good game but i never played it. tried watching the dog but i never stuck around, not my thing.
i understand the controller thing, there’s sadly no mod for controller support for beta 1.7.3, but i did try antimicrox on linux and mapped most of the controls there and it works as you’d expect
Yeah, I get what you mean. I’ve never watched VTubers either, but the technology behind it all is really fascinating.
Honestly, the only way I even know about Chrono Gear is through one of the devs I follow; I just tend to like their style.
I tried antimicrox and it works like you said! The only issue is I can’t get the joystick to rotate the view fully in fullscreen (yes, I’m a fullscreen freak) without the cursor hitting the edge of the screen. Still, it’s useful stuff though. Thanks a lot!
the game does remind me of castlevania. but i genuinely get lost all the time in any metroidvania game lmfao
also no problem :D
Chrono Gear is actually pretty linear and level-based, so getting lost isn’t really an issue
