A surge of national and international solidarity continues to support the Thomas Sankara Memorial construction project . Among the most dedicated contributors, Dr. Hebié Ditalamane, a 74-year-old retired university professor, responded to the government’s call by providing significant financial support. This Friday, October 24, 2025, the septuagenarian made a strong gesture by dedicating part of his pension to this major project. He made a contribution of 25,000 FCFA and pledged to renew this donation every month for ten months, for a total of 250,000 FCFA.
For Dr. Ditalamane, the Mausoleum and the project currently under construction have a significance that goes far beyond that of a simple memorial. According to him, they constitute the basis, the root, and the foundations of a revolution that is essential for Africa to ensure its true liberation and total independence.
" I had the privilege of being there during Sankara’s time. Seeing everything he did and everything he has done that is still relevant today, I think we are lucky to have revolutionaries like him. We want a truly independent Africa. Those who analyze it well enough know that if Africa is totally independent and totally sovereign, it must be said that it becomes the world’s leading power. It has all the natural resources and all the human resources too ," said Dr. Hebié Ditalamane.
The day was also marked by the generosity of international visitors. A delegation from Spain, after visiting the memorial site, made a contribution of 50 euros, 10,000 CFA francs, 10 euros, and 10 dollars, for a total of approximately 55,000 CFA francs.
Additionally, a visitor from Grenada in the Caribbean also supported the project with a donation of 25,000 CFA francs. Another visitor, after discovering the site, took the opportunity to make a personal donation of the same amount, 25,000 CFA francs.
" I want to contribute to the development of this project. I hope that one day my children and grandchildren, when they come here, will realize that their mother, their grandmother participated in this large-scale project which truly represents hope for all of Africa ," said Janet Ray, a visitor from Jamaica.
These contributions, coming from all walks of life, illustrate the fervor and ongoing commitment surrounding the memory of the father of the August 1983 Revolution, Captain Thomas Sankara.
