Kongoussi, October 19, 2025 (AIB) – The people of Guibaré department launched a community initiative this Saturday in Guibaré, aimed at providing their prefecture with modern housing. The official ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the prefect’s residence was presided over by the High Commissioner of Bam, Karim Ouédraogo, who launched the work.
The project is led by the prefect and president of the Guibaré special delegation (PDS), Kiswindsida Benjamin Ouédraogo, who put forward the idea during a public conference last March as part of the first fortnight of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, 2025 edition.
For him, the current housing, built with mud brick since 1989, is dilapidated and unsuitable. “We invited the population to mobilize so that together we can build the housing and not expect everything from the central government. Our message was heard and a committee was set up. The various contributions allowed us to begin work. This very morning, we received cement,” he explained.
The project, estimated to cost 18 million CFA francs, involves the construction of a three-room building with a fence. Initially planned to include two bedrooms, a living room, and a kitchen, the plan could be modified, given the enthusiasm generated by the initiative.
The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ouédraogo, welcomed the initiative and congratulated the population for their dynamism and sense of indigenous development.
He invited other municipalities in the province to draw inspiration from this example to support the national vision of participatory and responsible local development.
