Modern infrastructure! But at what cost!?

I fail to see why anyone would protest? Is ot because they think the Chineese hate electricity? Or is it that China is using renewables and the people there have not had fossil fule lies shoved down their throat and so dont see the issue with wind and solar? Or is it that the solar (according to a newish study) helps crops grow better so they are going to protest too much food?

Please enlighten me where the mass protest to the free icecream program would be
