Hot take, if you think teaching German kids about the Holocaust is the same thing as making them feel guilty about it, you probably feel guilty yourself but don’t want to admit it. Normal people when they hear something their demographic did don’t feel guilty for causing something. They may want to make amends from a sense of justice, but they don’t feel guilty.
Northern white people fought and died for the freedom of black people, while southern white people fought and died to keep them enslaved.
I’d like to condemn southern white people only, or at least those who don’t join everyone else in condemning that horrific history so many glorify as “their heritage”.

The reason we don’t harangue Germans is because they showed extreme remorse.
If they hauled the nazi flag around everywhere I suspect things would be different.
I learned that in high school history class when covering the north Atlantic slave trade. What a blizzard thing to say.
