I can see the comment contents by selecting View source on a deleted comment. Is this a bug or a feature? Or something configurable per instance?
Works on Jerboa at least.

In the app I use (connect for Lemmy), it seems that deleted messages continue to show up the same as normal messages, other than a “deleted” indicator next to them.
Testing.
The image url works after deleting just fine. Even if the markdown for it doesn’t.
This is kinda funny, because at first I was super confused what the comments were about. Then I went to the source instance, and saw they were deleted. This did not yet federate to my instance, so everything looks fine :D
