I mean, pretending to be someone in another instance, “stealing” the username, is trivial. I see the more likely targets being instance admins or high profile users. Should we worry somewhat about this?

On my instance, admins are tagged as such which seems like a good solution.

That, just like the fediverse button (which always links the user’s instance, even for threads they posted in a different instance), seems so useless to me. I’d be less interested in who my instance’s admins are, as in who the admins of the instance this is happening in are. In this thread, highlighting the lemmy.ml admin would be helpful information. Highlighting myself as admin is extremely useless, but would still be mostly useless if I were on a multi-user instance. Okay, maybe that’s not quite right. Both would be relevant information now that I think about it.

Federation makes easy things hard :/

It also seems very weird that you can reply to a deleted comment! (I deleted it because what I was saying was wrong in multiple ways, not just the one you pointed out)

Hah, I didn’t know, because it seems deletion is currently not federating, at least not to my instance.

I had an even weirder issue a while ago, my comment was accidentally deleted and then restored by a mod. The restoration did not federate, so people from the original instance could reply to my comment, but those replies would not exist for me (as mod deletion is stronger than user deletion) and I couldn’t see them until I went to the original instance.
