I’d partly like such a place. I’d totally despise the social part of it though, as I despise people and having to deal with them.

But as with clothes, yes. I’m a “westerner” with more money than I could ever spend, yet only own like 3 or 4 outfits. And all were used. I don’t like fancy brand shit. And I do care for my stuff. So there are exception s 😁

The rampant mental illness in the USA really does make this a negative feedback loop. I’d say a quarter of the roommates I’ve had over the years had some serious mental issues. I’ve had a knife pulled on me, a friend of mine was murdered by his roommate.

After you have a few bad experiences like that the goal becomes to get a small family together and isolate as soon as possible. Any commune here is basically assumed to be a religious cult because nothing else makes sense.

The unfortunate thing about the internet is all the people who agree with this sentiment are scattered across the globe. You’d have to do flyers in your local community or something

Well said. Yes, the lawn mower is an excellent example. One per street would be totally suffice and everyone’s lawn would be mowed. And that’d apply to many other daily things too.

But you have to fight against brainwashing (social)media. So no way.

As for me personally, I dislike people because I’m a misanthropist by reason not necessarily by experience. Although the latter often proved the former right. Sadly so, I might add. We have potential to be a great species. And the more people say how good they are, the more evil they really are. So nah, for me, the social component wouldn’t interest me 😁

As a neurodivergent person who objectively acts awkward in the eyes of everyone else and also has weird dietary preferences, communal kitchens are a no for me. I’d rather keep my food private and away from judgy eyes. Yeah you can say that the problem is a society that judges me for being different, but here’s the thing, everyone can know and even say it’s wrong but everyone will still do it. Questions like “what are you eating” or “why would you eat it like that” from even well intentioned people can really get on your nerves when everyone can’t help but give you their two cents.

Realistically though, I’d still support communal kitchens as a concept because I know I’m the minority, and I still appreciate the efficiency of getting the most use possible out of expensive appliances. I don’t make very complex meals and can more or less afford to just use the afromentioned hot plate all the time.

Also with the clothes thing, I really don’t understand why people have a problem with someone wearing the same clothes multiple days at a time. Or even switching between two sets of clothes, the Western concept that you can only wear fully washed clothes is also pretty dumb. That way you don’t have to share and you don’t need to own a lot of clothes. Especially if you work remotely, why do you need a visually different outfit every single day?

It would probably be cafeteria style where you could pick out the things you do eat

I think I might also be misunderstanding what communal kitchens are? I assumed it was literally just a place with a bunch of stoves side by side and everyone cooked their own food. Is it more like what they have in university dorms that don’t have in room kitchens?

But that would infringe on my God-given right to own a car, eat meat, fly once a year and replace my 50" TV with a 20% larger one every 4 years!

    How dare you?!?

I would rather have black people far away starving than living like THAT!

I dont care if there are enough resources to support giving life to my unborn children. I would never want my kids to suffer the human race. The 1% can make their own wage slaves.

The people will still be here. Perhaps a better way of life would change us, but its certainly to late for me to change the dim view I have of my own species. Everything could be 100% fixed overnight and I would still never forgive us all for what is, and what was throughout human history.

This next beer is in honor of what hope remains in the human race. Good luck.
