Observe the silence:
- No condemnation of US authorities’ harsh treatment of migrant protests.
- No acknowledgment of the protests’ peaceful nature.
- No calls for dialogue, no diplomatic visits, no threats of sanctions or cooled relations.
- No warnings about democratic backsliding, no objection to deploying the National Guard against citizens.
Contrast this with recent actions:
- A fiercely condemnatory stance toward Georgia’s government.
- Muted criticism of Turkey during the Istanbul protests.
The pattern? A three-tiered hypocrisy:
- Full condemnation for smaller states (Georgia).
- Tepid murmurs for regional players (Turkey).
- Deafening silence for Western hegemon (USA).
When responses shift this drastically based on geopolitics as opposed to principles, how can the EU claim to champion democracy or rule of law?
When you unblind yourself from the Western lies, you can see that their modus operandi is the same since the beginning of the 20st century. For example, there’s condemnation of African tyrants, but silence about massacres committed by French colonizers in Algeria. There’s a lot of drama involving Venezuela, however Europe stayed silent during Pinochet’s (and all of operation condor) massacres. The Nazis were hailed as heroes and protectors of the West from communists until they started invading France and Britain.
They’re also completely silent about Israel violation of international waters and terrorism against european civilians.
This isn’t strange. It’s exactly how the West has been behaving for the last 4 centuries:
-
Claim “European/American/Christian/Democratic” values are the pinnacle of human achievement.
-
Identify country that is a target for expansion/exploitation/influence
-
Constantly claim that this country is barbaric/inhuman/undemocratic/racist/heathen/terrorist/backwards/repressive/dictatorial/rogue/etc etc etc, so as to pressure it to fall in line
-
Use the propaganda you’ve been spouting to get your people in line with hating this country
-
Use the propaganda you’ve been spouting to get the target isolated diplomatically
-
If it doesn’t fall in line, then invade it or take over its government by force and subterfuge.
-
Use the propaganda you’ve been spouting to excuse any attrocities/war crimes/revealed subterfuge
-
Move on to the next target.
This is quintessential liberalism. Liberals will constantly advertise that it was liberalism that produced the legal framework of human rights, or that liberalism brought back “democratic” governance. They will also constantly attack other ideological frameworks as having committed attrocities, as people using them just to grab power, as malevolent systems of control, as being backwards and repressive, etc. However, they will always conveniently ignore the evils brought about by liberalism, such as… oh you know… that tiny thing called CAPITALISM and all it entails.
In this regard, liberals behave like religious radical extremists. They think they’ve ascended to some sort of moral nirvana. Hence everyone should be forcibly converted to liberalism. If anybody refuses to, it’s clearly because they are a bad, evil person with no respect for human rights or democracy. Thus, any such people, groups of people or even countries should be attacked until they change their mind. It’s for everyone’s best interests after all.
In the current era, most Western liberal governments view liberalism cynically, as a tool of control and coercion, through virtue signalling (Funny how liberals will be ever vigilant to detect control and coercion elsewhere, but completely fail to see it in their own system). Because colonial capitalist exploitation is being applied right back to the imperial core nowadays, and because digital communication gives instant access to any information anywhere in the world, it’s getting harder and harder for Western governments to keep their populace content. Therefore, they have no qualms about employing the very same behaviours they accuse others of. But it’s OK, because through the liberal washing machine, any and all attrocities, insults to dignity, hypocritical proclamations, and scandalous repression, can be excused as a justified means to a wonderful end.
Some older incidents to look at:
-
Dismantling “undemocratic genocidal” Yugoslavia using ultra-conservative religious extremists imported from Asian countries. Then replacing Yugoslavia with a bunch of borderline fascist ethnostate governments that hate each other and are just itching to jump right back to genocide. Also inventing a whole new country (Kosovo) which is ruled by mobsters.
-
Saving the world from the violently repressive communist Vietcong. Meanwhile, back in the US, deploying armed police with firearms and attack dogs to violently put down protests against the war and protests against racial injustice.
-
Claiming to set up democracy in Europe after WW2, while sponsoring military Juntas (Greece, Spain, Portugal), running undercover terror campaigns against leftists (Italy, France), outright blocking leftist legislation from passing and leftist election winners from actually claiming their elected positions) (France, West Germany, Low Countries)
-
Claiming to bring democracy, peace and prosperity in Africa, while sponsoring warlords to tear apart every single resource-rich region and serve it up to Western corporations. Also performing multiple coups across the whole continent constantly.
-
Claiming to uphold the UN and international law above all else, while the US/French/Belgians probably assassinated the UN secretary general while he was flying to the Congo to resolve a civil war caused by a Western coup (which aimed to block the Congo from trading its precious metals with the Soviet Union)
-
Openly training foreign militias and military officers so they can become fascist insurgents in their own countries and eventually take them over through a coup or civil war (e.g. Pinochet)
-
Claiming to be saving thousands of Iraqis from Saddam Hussein’s “torture dungeons”, while the US was employing their own global network of both undercover and overt torture dungeons throughout the world.
The list could go on forever.
