    $140 for burgerlanders

Someone close to me keeps getting their MRI denied by insurance, it’s been 6 months and they’re still calling every day.

no visa needed for Hainan, which is under development for medical tourism and has special regulations allowing access to cutting edge medications that are still in trial

  • I knew a guy here in the US on “good” health insurance with his employer, and his employer was/is the largest healthcare provider in the state (a giant teaching hospital).

he waited 6 months for an MRI of his foot including referral and consult, I am pretty sure he paid hundreds out of pocket, but the kicker was this:

it’s too “expensive” to have the MRI interpreted by someone in the US, so they email it to consultants in India who do it for like 20% of what insurance might be expected to pay someone here, and then email it back with a report that the doctor uses to make a treatment plan.

    the future is now.
