As a result of the RPG fire, three soldiers from the combat intelligence collection unit were seriously wounded. According to the initial investigation, the gunmen emerged from a tunnel that had been dealt with by the IOF last week. This tunnel is located within the buffer zone and extends from a military site in the area to the border with occupied Palestine.

Shortly after the RPG was fired, a rescue force arrived led by the commander of the Northern Brigade in the Gaza Division, Colonel (A.). The rescue force included the brigade’s command room and a force from reconnaissance units.

At 13:25, about half an hour after the first attack, a powerful explosive device was detonated on a vehicle belonging to the reconnaissance force. As a result of the detonation, one soldier was killed and two others were seriously wounded. A number of Air Force helicopters were called during the event to evacuate the wounded to several hospitals.
