Drawing! We all start life drawing, scribbling, experimenting etc. But often we drop the activity or don’t think were good enough to try. But everyone should take a pencil/pen and paper and just try to draw things, if you want to try and improve quickly look into https://drawabox.com
Pros - It’s cheap, easily available to most and often very cathartic.
Cons - if you get into it it takes a lot of time investment to get really good.
It’s the only universal form of communication. I can draw a picture of a fried egg and no matter what you speak you will understand.
This is really only a con if getting really good is a primary goal. Letting go of the need to master everything you enjoy doing is liberating.
You don’t have to finish every book you start. You don’t have to beat every game or play it on hard mode. You don’t have to make things that people want to buy. Your garden doesn’t have to win awards. Your app or your doohickeys don’t need to do anything useful or important.
We’re all conditioned to think that every waking moment of our lives should be productive, but we don’t have to be shackled by it.
Of course it’s okay to find fulfillment and satisfaction in mastering something, but what’s important is not buying into the idea that it’s the only way to enjoy an activity.
Exactly, I couldn’t agree more. I kind of only added it as a con as I felt I needed to add one. But I think it’s vital we just express ourselves and it doesn’t really matter the skill level, it’s still valid expression.
Also a very difficult mindset to get out of but so important. I feel that this holds back a lot of budding artists (and me too).
Thank you for this suggestion. Taking drawing classes has been on my back burner for awhile, and this site is perfect for a beginner. I also love that it was created due to community demand from r/ArtFundamentals. I just signed up!
