In the past year I did some research into trying to find something in the vein of that classic Doc Marten punk boot look.

Turns out that Doc Martens (besides it’s Nazi links) just aren’t really that great of a quality anymore and are a far cry from it’s previous long-lasting reputation. And a lot of boots that are supposed to last can cost a lot of money.

So I came across Solovair and bought these 11-eye boots. Been using them for months now and the break-in period wasn’t all that bad. My foot is very narrow so I tend to wear thicker hiking socks with them - which are comfortable anyway - and they’re a great fit.

Here’s hoping I made a good choice and can wear them for years.

I’ve had a pair of solovairs for 2 years and I feel you made the right choice. I wear mine decently often – few times a month in warmer months and multiple times a week in colder months – and they’ve held up really well, just a few creases on the toe. All I’ve been doing for them as far as care goes is washing off salt from the road occasionally and I did 1 leather treatment about a year ago.

For comparison my friend bought a pair of docs around the same time as me. She seems to wear them a bit more often, but they are totally beat to shit after 2 years.

That’s good to hear. I usually wear mine most of the time I go out that isn’t for groceries or walking the dog. It’s either that or my beat-up converse for when I need to throw something on quickly. So I’m banking on the low use keeping them in good condition for a while

I have a pair of 8 eye solovairs and wear them almost daily in the winter and fairly regularly in the summer. I do some pretty infrequent cleaning/greasing with mink oil and they’ve held up wonderfully for almost 4 years now.
