I know we differ somewhat in philosophy, but by and large, I think we’re pretty much on the same team. Personally, almost all my cooking is vegan anyway, and I love reading your recipes.
Feel free to take this down if you don’t though, no hard feelings.
I wouldn’t put it quite as harshly… But I also don’t understand the attitude at all. This fella is demonstrating one of many reasons I don’t call myself vegan.
I know most vegans aren’t like that though, or I wouldn’t have reached out. Folks, I just want to talk about chickpeas. I really think they’re neat. All the downvotes and hostility won’t change that. They’re still gonna be neat.
I don’t mean to be any more harsh than they are. There is a reason the average person has a negative connotation towards the term vegan and that person shows it.
I will try to access your community when it federates (?).
Is it harsh to tell a man who beats his wife that his wife gets hurt when he beats her and he ought to stop? Is it mean? Tell me the gymnastics you have to go through to think it’s mean to tell somehow who is knowingly harming others that it’s not okay and unacceptable
Edit: The reason speciesists hate vegans is the same reason that misogynists hate feminists. It makes sense that oppressors hate those who speak up on behalf of those they oppress, but it’s not right, and it’s weird that you think it is
Well, you’ve done it. So much for my fresh start idea.
I agree with literally everything you’ve said but the way you’re saying it is insufferable. I understand you feel passionately about the cause, we all do. But lashing out and lecturing people who are trying to talk to us in good faith will not get them in our side.
I implore you to think about if what you’re about to post is constructive or argumentative before you post it.
“insufferable” “lashing out” lmao
My tone is fine. You’re reading shit into it that isn’t there because anything that challenges the status quo makes you uncomfy.
It isn’t nice to tell carnists to stop harming others, I get it

It’s most likely federated, but there is some weird caching thing where if nobody from your instance has ever looked up a particular community on another instance, you can’t see it right away.
You should be able to at least view it through a permalink like this:

You think it’s okay to rape cows and macerate chicks. You know these things happen in the industry because I showed you, but you don’t care. Your comm explicitly prohibits talking about where eggs and milk come from, because you know their province isn’t nice, but you don’t care. It’s not mean to point this out. What’s mean is hurting animals, a thing you knowingly choose to do and could choose not to do. You can stop hurting animals, so why don’t you?
