Nina Simone kicks ass. She has some awesome quotes, pulled no punches, and was an incredible talent.

To Be Young Gifted and Black was written about Hansberry (To Be Young Gifted and Black was also a Hansberry play). One of my favorite Nina Simone performances is this performance which she dedicated to Hansberry, who died a few years prior. Better than the studio version imo.

I have to cherish the memory of Nina Simone, especially after Angela Davis broke my heart.
