Who would run the US empire until the new President is elected and sworn in?

ouch! I’ll have to tell him he was wrong in saying he rules the world in that recent interview he did.

Kamala Harris, without a shadow of a doubt, because she’s the current Vice President. Presidential succession is pretty well-defined in the US.

Edit: I mean that Harris would be the figurehead of the US empire. The people who she responds to would still be the capitalists.

Blinken wrote a paper more than a decade ago about “solving” the Palestinian problem and iirc it’s basically a map of what is happening now. I think Sullivan is certainly part of the group making decisions but Blinken is doing most of the foreign policy stuff

Whereas this essay co-written by Sullivan is from a more unrecognizable world where “One does not need to be naive about the nature of the regime in Tehran to believe it is no longer wise or necessary for the United States to remain indefinitely just shy of war with Iran.”

I was mostly wondering who does the whispering in Biden’s ear while Blinken’s off rocking in the free world.

I mean at this point it’s probably just immediate family members and one or two advisors that have actual access to Biden, could very well be Sullivan… But the funniest option would be that it’s Hunter when Blinken is off begging China to do something China isn’t going to do

Maybe this is liberal brainrot, but Blinken is currently 4th in line for the “throne” after Kamala Harris, Mike Johnson, and Patty Murray. If Biden dies, resigns, or otherwise can’t do President stuff, Kamala’s next. None of the other three seem to have the kinds of medical problems that Biden has, so they’d probably finish out his term.

American politicians are gateways through which lobbyists hand off legislation. Blinken is the one running US foreign policy (watch him in the audience or behind Biden every time Biden speaks publicly, wincing at every fuck-up Biden does that damages Blinken’s ongoing attempts to run the empire) and would continue to run it until the new President replaces the cabinet/staff with their own picks… At which point their own picks would be the ones running the empire.

American bourgeois interests or - arguably - the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China would continue to rule the world. So, no change.

I mean officially speaking, the vice president is the acting president when the president is incapacitated (doesn’t have to be dead). Mike Pence did that several times when Trump was in surgery under general anesthesia, iirc.
