I’ve looked at shit like GPU prices, gaming culture, modern life etc.

I noticed that frugality - aka spending less - is becoming less and less of an important value thanks to planned obsolescence.

Why did I bring up frugality? Well because if everyone suddenly went frugal, corpos would lose money, so they invented planned obsolescence to maintain profit margins and force consumers to buy more.

Now, thanks to decades of normalizing this shit we now have worse-quality products than the last generation, money has gone worthless, and now we have new forms of cancer like crypto and NFTs.

Not just you. Most people here in the US care more about what others will think if they have an old car or phone or whatever than they do about how much money the newest items cost and how little time they will last. This is intentional, people are taught to always want newer, more expensive items. They’re taught that newer and more expensive necessarily means better, because the capitalists want to squeeze all the left over money out of people and make sure that they get all the profit they can regardless of what happens to the people as a result.

    • Yep, I even this shit in gaming culture.

I decided that when I make a powerhouse gaming set I’d go for an RTX 2060 and whatever is objectively good for the job. Also gonna get an office chair since it’s better for the job than a racing seat.
