    What’s infuriating about this incessant crying about the alleged underconsumption in China is that US officials and mainstream media outlets complain about it without ever giving a subjective or objective look at how Chinese people are actually living with their current consumption levels. There is this vulgar desire to have a low investment to consumption ratio and the liberal orthodoxy pretends like it’s some law of nature.

    Of course we know why they do this. The underlying aim is that China and Chinese people should be destitute so that they are subordinated to imperialist economic interests. But I wonder how the average person with low economic literacy responds to these kinds of news and statements other than imagining a Chinese horde coming to take their lunch.

      At its core, the issue boils down to China’s success in charting its own path, which is proving more effective. This is what truly irks them. It’s the realization that China is showcasing a viable alternative to the neoliberal dogma they have been peddling. As such, they’re insisting that China has to halt its progress.
