It’s cheap, it’s gross, and it downplays the significance, scale, and horror of a historical event. Once you draw that unfair comparison the reader is given two choices: believe this is actually as bad or conclude that krystalnacht wasn’t that bad. it’s a dangerous game to play and anybody operating in good faith doesn’t play it.
