I’m a big fan of Fallout games. They are immersive and anti-capitalist post-apocalyptic rpgs. Save yourself the $50 though and pirate them, /c/leftpiracy

Beyond those, I’m not too sure. Borderlands single player bored me, but I had a blast playing co-op. Similar story with Halo games.

eh… I’m not sure about them being anti-capitalist. Fallout 3 makes a mockery of the DPRK with the Republic of Dave not to mention all the anti-communist propaganda Liberty Prime spews.

FNV has some pro-imperialist propaganda in it. The NCR represents the US and they paint it in a pretty positive light. The legion on the other hand seems to represent the Soviet Union and they are portrayed as a ruthless barbarian dictatorship.

These are interesting connections. Liberty Prime IMO is a caricature that mocks anti-communism, and maybe naively, I think we aren’t meant to side with the Brotherhood of Steel. You got me with the Republic of Dave

FNV I’ve only played once, but I missed the connection to the USSR. I will admit that the NCR is portrayed positively for the most part, though they show that some of the people living under them are resentful.

Well Liberty Prime did get squashed and fascists are the bad guys, but FO3 seems to have liberal writers and not actual leftists. It’s not obvious but if the NCR is the US the only ideological opponent I can think of is the USSR or China. The Legion seems to represent the Bourgeois version of the USSR, but they don’t really shove in your face, so that’s a plus.
