Federal prosecutors on Monday said in a court filing that they are “engaged in plea negotiations” with former Rep. George Santos of New York to potentially resolve his pending criminal fraud case.

The disclosure came in a letter from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn to Judge Joanna Seybert, proposing a joint agenda with Santos’ lawyer for a previously scheduled status conference Tuesday in Long Island federal court.

“The parties are presently engaged in plea negotiations with the goal of resolving this matter without the need for a trial,” prosecutors wrote.

“The parties wish to continue those negotiations over the next thirty days.”

In exchange for leniency, Santos has agreed to provide the location of the Lost Ark of the Covenant, The Holy Grail, Jimmy Hoffa’s tomb, and the location of his hidden pot 'o gold/lucky charms. He also purports to be long-lost fugitive from justice D.B. Cooper.

After Santos’s recent outbursts about various antics by various politicians, his opportunity to name names in exchange for less prison time should make for must see TV.

“antics” is such a woefully insufficient word for his actions/behavior… shenanigans, tomfoolery, etc… they all fail to hit the mark. we need a new word.

I fully support this to the extent that he should just get sent back to Argentina or wherever it was and prosecutors just immediately go to town on the dirt he provides in kind
