Horrible news
Minister-president Geert
Don’t worry I will vote and beat fascism, they won’t know what hit them
The party that usually gets a big amount of votes is often banned from taking place in the government. But this election, the right seems desperate enough to consider a coalition between neoliberale VVD, Christian fundamentalist NSC and far right party PVV (with other Christian fundamentalist or outright fascist parties as a buffer to join).
The Green/Labour fusion is also doing well but has completely shit the bed by moving closer to the center/right instead of forming a spine and getting actual left wing talking points on the agenda.
What are some of issues that are talked about a lot in Belgian politics right now?
This is a party in The Netherlands.
But over here it’s immigration, housing shortage, cost of living getting too expensive and sometimes climate change. Those are the big ones.
Same goes for The Netherlands, but I feel like they are much further in their road to fascism and things like LGBTQ+ rights and racism are much more targeted. And with this new coalition looming, I fear many comrades and refugees will be in actual danger.
Luckily Belgium has 1) a big marxist party to counter the far right talking points and 2) strong unions and midfield orgs to resist liberal policies and such, so there’s more support for resistance.
