Ultimately it was a “death of despair,” and much of that despair was either caused or exacerbated by the low quality of medical and mental health care that’s available to the poor in this country, and the debt and unemployability that resulted from it. Other factors existed, but if we had universal health care he would still be alive today.

Obamacare saved my friend’s life (when he was 25), but was a major factor in what killed him (ten years later).
