there are many factors that make it difficult to learn about fashion before transitioning! it’s hard to determine what looks good on you when you feel like nothing does, and even if you’re willing to try fem clothes or do research while presenting as male there’s a lot of stigma around that makes it hard to really get a grasp on things! when a whole new world of presentation opens up to you it takes experimenting to figure out what styles you like and are affordable

Yeah same. cat-trans I will give them the benefit of the doubt, but it is frankly rude and a common transphobic talking point(transtrenders) to state that transgender folks transition on a whim.

Its the, “your presentation is the most important part of you” for me. The idea that fashion could be what indicates that someone endagered themselves and upturned their lives on a whim is an insane take.

Unless you’ve transitioned you have no idea how many of those details there are.

Plus, a lot of them are things you’re expected to have learned as a teenager, so there’s not so many explanations out there.

Plus, there’s unfortunately no substitute for making those mistakes and learning from them- something that we normally give teenagers some degree of grace over, but adults get judged for it immediately.

Plus, wardrobes cost a lot of money
