Lol, the caption under the second frame is Japanese instead of Chinese and reads “I’m a little removed who doesn’t speak Chinese.”

Horribly google translated tho. Japanese doesn’t literally use “female dog” to mean “removed” and the verb should also be in the potential conjugation.

There’s something bigger going on with Temu. If you look around you will find tons of people who have had their credit card or bank info stolen, some of them with Temu being one of a few, or sometimes their only purchase on the card. Either Temu got hacked at some point, or there is some active vulnerability.

Either way stay away from Temu, it’s like Wish but somehow shittier. If you want chinesium crap, just buy it off Aliexpress. Honestly Aliexpress is about on par with Amazon, at least their listings are a bit more honest, although figuring out how to navigate their poor search function is almost as bad as navigating through Amazon’s two pages of sponsored listings.

It was just a matter of time. This chinesium stuff is spreading everywhere. There’s new markets (like Temu) and then the old markets are now saturated woth people just relisting Ali stuff on Amazon, Etsy, Ebay, etc. Hell even some Aliexpress merchandise are just relists of another Ali or Aliexpress item.

I will say that sites like Wish/Temu have a devilishly genius promotion style. Always throwing coupons to get you to open the app, always having bundle deals, especially with free shipping. So much shit just getting bought to fill a cart and save on a virtual coupon. It’s kind of genius, oh and because each individual item is so cheap hardly anyone ever returns things. It’s a brilliant business model.

Yeah, true. I just wonder why the US government wanted to ban tiktok, when what sites you mention do is much, much worse. Guess size matters, they are much smaller than tiktok

My conspiracy theory after perusing tiktok is because there are a number of tiktokers detailing or guessing congress critters trades in almost real time. Thr amount of videos I have seen where it’s “X politician, met with these folks, and are on X committee, I predict he will buy a huge amount of shares” Then when it’s reported like 28 days later, it comes out to be true… so not only are they pointing out their corruption, by giving other people these tips they can follow their trades. I think the Chinese government is ecstatic about these types of videos, and US politicians obviously hate them.

I try to stay informed about politics, I read a lot, etc. But the amount of new info I have found out on tiktok that sent me down a rabbit hole and ended up being true is crazy…

I am not saying blindly accept what people say on tiktok… but it’s a good starting point for finding out topics I never would have known about. Like small time corruption scandals that don’t even hit the news.

They manufacture at scale that creates these prices.
I’m not worried about spying, if anything - it is US side that has been confirmed to be spying on a massive scale, not China

Is temu stuff as bad as it seems (i.e. as bad as it is cheap)? Never bought anything from them out of principle

It’s mostly knockoff products sold at way more than they should be with a fresh coat of paint. A raspberry pi 4 for example retails at ~$70. Take that same board and have it basically sold by the OEM, pretty much at cost, but advertise it as a fake “Switch” and sell it for $100. They also get rid of plenty of dead or manufactured overstock.

Don’t use Temu. If you do, use a pass through service for payment.

Just Google Temu and card info stolen, and you can find a dizzying number of stories and articles about people’s credit card and bank accounts being breached after shopping on Temu. I don’t know if they got hacked, or if it’s some active vulnerability, but it’s just not worth it.

The deals aren’t even that great to begin with. You can find the same stuff for around the same price on Ali.
