Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

I recall a certain other country brexitting and that was such a great success even since before they voted about it.

Big “you can’t fire me, I quit!” vibes from Erdogan here.

Quit from what though? They’re not EU members. I really don’t understand what he’s even talking about. Their frozen membership application?

A large part of Turkey’s economy and value right now is that they are being a middle man between Putin and his problems.

That being said, if he gives that up…

Putin is not going to have a middle man between himself and the next Prygozhin.

The only value he will have will be that which Russia ascribes to it temporarily.

What does “part ways” even mean? They aren’t in the EU and the only claim they have to being on the European continent , is some land they illegally acquired in a very similar fashion to Russia in Ukraine. Is he going to use “immigrants (actually refugees) as weapons” and “open floodgates” to let them into the EU? Provide Russia with more weapons? What?

I don’t recall Turkey having any “ways” with the EU anyway.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

ISTANBUL, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that Ankara could “part ways” with the European Union if necessary when asked about the contents of a European Parliament report on Turkey.

The report, adopted earlier this week, said Turkey’s accession process with the 27-member bloc cannot resume under current circumstances and called for the EU to explore “a parallel and realistic framework” for its ties with Ankara.

Turkey has been an official candidate to join the EU for 24 years, but accession talks have stalled in recent years over the bloc’s concerns about human rights violations and respect for the rule of law.

“The EU is trying to break away from Turkey,” Erdogan told reporters ahead of a trip to the United States.

“We will make our evaluations against these developments and if necessary, we can part ways with the EU.”

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry said earlier this week that the European Parliament report contained unfounded allegations and prejudices and took “a shallow and non-visionary” approach to the country’s ties with the EU.

The original article contains 176 words, the summary contains 176 words. Saved 0%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

Well isn’t Turkey in EU because the EU wanted more control in the Black Sea and with Ukraine joining after this war the EU won’t need Turkey and will stop putting up with its B.S.
