    My country is removed.

    They want home owners to invest a lot of their own money into heatpumps to reduce natural gas consumption and meanwhile they do this.

    What would happen if one day those subsidies were to stop? I presume the fuel prices would triple, so that all consumer goods were to rise in price… but after giving it some time to stabilize, this would promote the move to sustainable/renewable fuel sources?

      You just set up a false dichotomy there since an obvious alternative would be to nationalize the industry and to use the profits to build out renewable energy infrastructure.
