on another note, the duran, the new atlas and the gaggle are politically opaque to me, they criticise american foreign policy but it doesn’t come across as marxist, what is your impression of them? (perhaps that’s unfair to berletic given that he interacts with danny haiphong who seems a bit more grounded in socialist ideas as far as I can tell)

The Duran are on the right, but have a very grounded and realistic analysis for the most part I find. You just have to keep their bias in mind when watching. Interestingly, despite being on the right, they appear to be quite positive on China, and even had Danny on the show a few times.
Meanwhile, the new atlas tends to focus on analyzing western hegemony, and I find it does a really good job covering western sources critically. I get the impression Brian mainly just wants US global hegemony to end for countries to be able to do their own thing without external interference.
