I can see that if I create several posts with the same link, they are matched as such. The other posts are linked in the «cross published» section at the top (on lemmy-ui).
If a post is relevant to two different communities (example: a climate-dedicated community and a more general news commyunity), should I post it in each ?
If so, how to ease the process without having to separately copy / paste all parts of the post ?
When there are multiple relevant communities, I post on the smaller community and crosspost that to the bigger one. I hope thay this would advertise the smaller community in the bigger one since I expect that some people in the bigger one may be interested in the smaller community but don’t know about it.

you’ll find it just below your post title and username etc. All you need to do is select the community you want to cross-post to. You can optionally also add extra text, and tailor the title to make it more relevant.If you’re on an alternative UI and don’t have this feature, well I think that’s probably why we get so many duplicate posts so it may be worth raising with the developer(s) of your app.
I’m using Jerboa at the moment. On the mobile UI the «create a cross publication isn’t exactly that, it quotes the first publication and credits the lemmy link (original link is lost also). Thanks for pointing to it out anyways !
Generally speaking I don’t mind when the same article pops up three times in a row, in related communities. When it gets to 4+ it starts to look a little excessive to me.

I’d assume that everyone subscribed to news is also subscribed to worldnews. I see a lot of “cross posts” with very low engagement.
