I’m experiencing it bad right now. Some of the stuff causing me to feel stressed will pass with time but I’m feeling awful now :/

I can’t take more than a day off from work, which might be pushing it anyway, and I have so much work to do in the next week (possibly weeks? Idk yet)

Even weird advice would be appreciated kitty-cri

Smoke lots of weed and go goblin mode regularly, ideally before burnout begins. Prevention is the best medicine.

Being aware that you’re about to burnout before you do allows you to prepare and minimize the damage. Figure out some warning signs that happen before you burnout: e.g. you start feeling less inclined to do things you enjoy, you start sleeping more hours, etc. If you’re gonna burnout, start taking on less tasks and start setting smaller goals and expectations of yourself.

This is assuming that you can actually lessen your workload somehow. Idk how to stop burnout if you have no choice but to be worked to death.

Also regular exercise helps build your capacity for work in the long term, and becomes something you can reduce/drop when times get tough.

Edit: also cutting out alchohol helps me. the smoking weed recommendation might not necessarily be a good one. weed helps me get thru the burnout but makes my depression worse

        • limited IRL social contact - social interactions really burn me out due to having to mask (autistically, not covid masking)
        • focusing on self care - i know this isnt really typical of goblin mode but ignoring the needs of others and spending all my energy on taking care of myself. i stop caring about work and other obligations so I can focus on recovery. showering, eating, etc before doing anything else
        • cutting down on hobbies / replacing them with NEET stuff. video games, TV, etc all the classic depression hobbies are low effort and make brain chemicals go brrr
        • girl dinners and depression meals - eating well does help you feel better but cooking takes a lot of energy for me because i really enjoy doing it and if i put the effort in i’ll spend hours making elaborate food. ideally find easy to make and healthy meals.

Get off the Internet and read a book. This is a more extreme measure, but microdosing mushrooms really helps me.

For real, though. I’ve been putting off a break for so long because I got a lot on my plate and I always gotta be the responsible one. Well, now I’m eating garbage tacos and drinking whisky because I held it off toooo long.
