An Australian ex-priest convicted of sexually abusing children had another 12 months added to his 39-year prison sentence on Tuesday for molesting a 72nd victim.

What about the drag queens? Why don’t we ever see reports of drag queens grooming and molesting children?

The only men in dresses children should be really wary of are clergy.

It’s just that with the right wing rage about drag queens grooming and molesting children while reading them stories about acceptance and self-worth in public libraries with their parents present I just assumed that there must be thousands and thousands of examples of drag queens who have been convicted of grooming and molesting children but I’ve never seen anyone come forward with a single example.

Honestly, why is there such a strong connection between priesthood and child molestation? is it the role that attracts creeps?

I think it‘s a mix of having to suppress your sexual needs (that possibly wouldn‘t even include children), the position of authority and the „easy“ victim…

How many lives has he ruined? How many suicides? How many instances of domestic violence? How many people who had to live the rest of their lives in misery because they couldn’t get effective help?

I don’t even want a death sentence for people like him. I want him to be waterboarded every day until his every waking moment is filled with the same constant fear and anxiety as his victims.

It’s a bit pointless to argue the length of the punishment because any year added will be added to his corpse. Most legal systems do not stack their punishments as a flat rate like that. The first kid probably gave him most of the jail sentence and the rest added very little.

Also I don’t think normal possession charges in Australia just gives you a fine because it’s not USA. If you look it up it says 2 years for possession but that includes carrying 50g of heroin so carrying a joint will not send you to jail.

All a fair point. I hadn’t put much thought into the comment, but good on Australia for putting him away for life.

More like six months per victim, if you do the math. Australia really cares about their children, obviously.

That bugged me too. He wasn’t a priest, left the church, then molested kids. He was a catholic priest who molested kids.

He seems like such a normal guy. I wonder what he did to get kicked out?

I think the authorities like it to get into the triple digits before they feel the need to do anything.
