I am differentiating between votes and seats.
They are getting fewer votes than the conservatives this will obviously lead to fewer seats and then the conservatives but even under proportional representation it would also lead to fewer seats because they are getting fewer votes.
What you’re talking about is the situation where they have very little support in any one constituency but wide-ranging support generally. That would indeed result in them getting a large number of votes but very few seats. But that isn’t what is happening here, they have a smattering of support in most constituencies and a lot of support in some constituencies. They will probably therefore win one or two seats.
Under proportional representation they would get more seats but they would not get more seats than the conservatives. So by no metric that you choose to use are they “doing better than the conservatives”. In terms of the number of seats they are going to get they are tying with the SNP.

Right but they get all that energy from atom to energy conversion. The starships get that from antimatter reactors but I’m pretty certain that planet-based installations probably just put a bunch of trees and gravel in as base material, convert that to energy and then convert that back into useful atoms.
If you can do matter conversion, then power generation is almost certainly trivially easy.
One of the reasons that Voyage’s writing is so terrible is because all of the good ideas got knocked back. For example the ship was supposed to get progressively more damaged over time, patched up with improvised repairs. That’s why the engineer was a Marquee, because they were used to having to do that sort of thing so they’d have experience that Starfleet engineers wouldn’t have. That’s why she was promoted over a Starfleet engineer. In the rewrite none of that comes through and it looks a bit pointless.
But they decided that was too expensive, so they didn’t do it. In all fairness to them with the special effects they had at the time, it would have been extremely expensive, but it would have made the show so much better.

A lot of the seats the conservatives are down to win they’ll only win by a very narrow margin. It only takes a little bit of tactical voting to take away a lot of those seats. I think only about 50 of them are definite wins for the conservatives.
We will see, but their support seems mostly theoretical. They don’t really have any actual policies and the only way they could think to gain any kind of legitimacy was to bring back the only person who has any real reputation (albeit not entirely universal). And that was despite the fact that they actually do have an MP, since he’s a total tit no one likes him.
It isn’t complacent it’s just a realistic observation of the facts. Their support is 12% at best but probably a lot less when the ballots actually accounted. People like to say they’ll vote one way on polls because they are really conservative voters and want to give the conservatives a kick up the arse.
It was always socialist. That was blindingly obvious even from the days of TOS. Remember, Star wars universe everyone had just come out of the third world war, practically everything had been destroyed and there was virtually no infrastructure left, people were willing to take pretty much any kind of government going.
Then replicators were invented and once you’ve got that it’s pretty difficult to have anything other than a socialist government or a dictatorship.
