See: all the big tech companies. Do not let yourselves be fooled into believing that they “heart” open source.

Capitalism co-opts the same people, movements, and cultures it oppressed before they were profitable in order to preserve its own hegemony.

Now that people are becoming somewhat aware of how much they’re being spied on, manipulated, and exploited by technology we’ll see more companies doing this - presenting themselves as “open source” or “privacy respecting” as a marketing gimmick.
