Without Section 230, platforms would face a stark dilemma: moderate content and risk liability, or avoid moderation entirely. This could lead to overcautious censorship (“collateral censorship”), where platforms remove lawful but controversial content to avoid lawsuits. Many websites could shut down comment sections, and services like YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter might experience frequent outages as they scramble to minimize risk. Platforms may adopt strict content policies, require liability waivers, or charge users to post content. Search engines and browsers might introduce account requirements, data collection, or subscription fees, undermining privacy and accessibility. If this bigtech investor really wants to hold big tech accountable, he’d be advocating against big platforms like Google, twitter, and Meta’s heavy censorship of pro-palestine and anti-fascist content. But he didn’t say a single thing on it. They don’t wanna remove section 230 to hold big platforms accountable, they wanna repeal it to restrict smaller, newer, anti-capitalism while the large platforms like Amazon, Google, and Meta keep censoring anything that is anti-capitalist and anti-US State propaganda.
