According to the Minister Spokesperson for the Government, Mr. Pingdwendé Gilbert OUÉDRAOGO, the Council examined several files and took important decisions taking into account the legitimate aspirations of the Burkinabè people in accordance with the ideals of the popular progressive revolution.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, the Council adopted a report relating to the provisional results of the 2025-2026 agro-pastoral campaign and the food situation.

According to the Minister of State, Minister in charge of Agriculture, Commander Ismaël SOMBIÉ, the 2025-2026 campaign took place in a context marked by the implementation of the Presidential Initiative for agricultural production and food self-sufficiency, coupled with the 2023-2025 agro-pastoral and fisheries offensive.

He stated that the campaign was marked by a 9.2% increase in cultivated areas, made possible by securing production zones and resettling populations. The state provided strong support to producers through infrastructure improvements and the development of 127,000 hectares.

As of November 30, 2025, the harvest rate reached 86.4%, an exceptional result. Total cereal production amounted to 7,142,484 tons, representing a 17.63% increase compared to the previous season. Other food crops totaled 1,246,132 tons, a 27.9% increase, including 884,953 tons of cowpeas (+10%). Cash crops (excluding cotton) reached 1,353,298 tons, a 3.03% increase.

“Generally speaking, the overall cereal balance sheet gives us a cereal needs coverage rate of 126.4% for the 2025-2026 agro-pastoral campaign, which is a rate never before achieved in our country,” rejoices Commander SOMBIÉ.

On behalf of the Presidency of Faso, the Council adopted a report relating to a project for the construction of administrative and educational infrastructure for the benefit of the Technological Academy of Faso.

This Academy is a strategic institution designed to train engineers locally in cutting-edge technologies.

This project, which is part of the vision of national sovereignty based on highly qualified skills, is being implemented within the framework of the Presidential Initiative for quality education for all, says the Minister Spokesperson for the Government, Pingdwendé Gilbert OUÉDRAOGO.
