      I think pushing Russia and China together was an equal blunder because Russia ensures China cannot be blockaded for resources and provides a shield in the west.

          India does have a lot of potential being a huge country. On the other hand, Russia is far more advanced technologically, especially in terms of military and space tech as a legacy of USSR, and it’s a major global commodity exporter. So both are going to be major players going forward.

      India being close to Russia isn’t particularly unusual owning to the third Indo-Pakistani war. The Soviet Union supported India, who supported Bangladesh against Pakistan. Since then, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation as the successor state of the Soviet Union has maintained a warm relationship with India.

      Having said that, I’m always of the opinion that India looks after India. I never liked the idea that India is somehow a US puppet. Those Sikh separatists that Modi send goons to assassinate would beg to differ. India will never be more than a fairweather friend regardless of whether it’s on Team US or Team China.
