Ya your not wrong at all fluoride 100% helps with dental stuff. The point the other poster was making is that it hasn’t been thoroughly studied to see if it also has other effects. Generally chemicals dont just do 1 or 2 things when you ingest it. Its a laundry list of usually mostly benign things. For all we know fluoride makes peoples toes hairier for example. But ya there is a very small chance its also doing something bad. But the fact everyone against it just seems to whine about it and never actually do any studies despite like RFK being filthy rich enough to finance one shows that they don’t actually care about that and are just dumbasses that are anti-fluoride for no reason.

But we should 100% study it more theres no reason not to if were all gonna drink it constantly. It could show up with some really good info too. Like for example maybe for 99% of people fluoride in water is fine but certain people with specific conditions might want to avoid it. I mean i cant eat bread for fucks sake. You never know if theres some group of people out there that its actually harming until you study it. So yeah basically just because people like RFK are idiots and have no idea what theyre talking about doesnt mean that there is no merit in studying the effects of fluoridated water further. Honestly there is merit in studying just about everything further. More information is never a bad thing especially when it comes to health issues.

(I am also pro fluoridated water)

I agree with you and the other poster that there may be unknown additional side effects, even at the relatively low levels that are used to protect teeth, especially children’s teeth, from cavities and toothy decay.

It’s unfortunate that that line of inquiry has more often than not been bad-faith reactionary chud shit, like antivax movements are and with similar overlap. Some vaccines do have known side effects, but it’s messy to even talk about it because of the chud factor.

Yeah thats the thing about anti-science behavior not only is it harmful directly but it has indirect effects of making it harder to actually approach things from a proper scientific perspective. Since we should honestly be skeptical of everything, but “skepticism” has been high jacked by these reactionary assholes who use the word to mean “i just dont believe anything scientists say”

More often than not “debunked” tends to mean “no, I don’t like that and I found a Youtuber that agrees with me,” and that sucks.
