Does the bayonet even have to be mounted like that ot it can just be sticked at the end? Entire thing looks rather fragile and if it the latter case then a better version is availble, it’s called spear.
But the sawn-off wand does work? Hmm you could also mount the spear blade on the other end of wand and use something shorter, like assegai?

The magic-y bits come out the end, I’m guessing, and they don’t want them getting tangled up in the bayonet
