I remember as a kid/teen the “debate” (there was no debate, it was some Nazi fuckle sticks on “one side” and people who aren’t fuckles on the other) over using stem cells from fetuses. Like people were openly discussing if we should be able to do science and purely ethical science too. Not experimenting on living people or their corpses. Not “forcing abortions” or whatever insanity right wingers have been saying for 50 years just to harvest the cells. When I really consider what was being “discussed” when I was teen, it makes me even more pissed off that people think I and anyone else that age were supposed to grow up and just accept this dogshit.

After posting this, I reread my comment and had to appreciate my own self for not saying I’d go back to Sept 11 to prevent the hijackings and attacks… just to condemn America and say “see? Deserved it.”
I think one of the first times being a leftie resonated with me instead of being an anti-war lib was seeing people get cyber bullied for being racist. They weren’t talking down to them and they weren’t offended. They wanted pictures of their hog. They were a little freak who needed to shut the fuck up.
If that’s co-opted by the DNC I’ll be sad in the sentimental sense. Our adaptation when they invariably fuck it up and lean too hard on the pageantry will be exciting.
