so i made the mistake of opening twitter today. one of the first things i saw.
even better – if you visit the person’s profile, their bio says “Landlord, Southerner, A10 haver.”
bonus points. when called out for their racist tweets, they post this gem calling African Americans obese. https://x.com/NotOkN1/status/1816987866527867059
I’ve noticed this new update with racists that Africans got trillions in aid but couldn’t improve the continent, both ignoring that Africa is a continent and not one country and that the value lost from colonialism and neo-colonialism costed the continent more than trillions, and also that the U.S. budget was $6.13 trillion in FY 2022, the U.S. is much smaller, has less population and doesn’t need as much Africa. no logic.
They literally don’t think colonialism should matter. They don’t even recognize modern neo-imperialism and extractive industry and super profits - just getting people to think through how what happened to Africa between 1880 to 1960 might have a lasting impact in the 2020s.
It’s because they believe colonialism was “ancient history” and “has nothing to do with them” and that neocolonialism isn’t real to them.
