Yeah exactly. The problem Europe has is reliance on the US for several things, security being one of them. Convincing the left that more military in Europe is a good thing will be a hard sell but in order to pull Europe out of the US orbit (and by extension nato) it’s a necessary step.
The question of “do we need nato?” will become a thing when Europe approaches the power it needs to not require the US for security.
