One year of draconic censorship laws has terrified Russian society. Multi-year prison sentences and thousands of court cases induce fear and self-censorship. Practically all independent journalists have either left Russia or closed down.
It doesn’t surprise me that a state in crisis would penalize citizens for opposing the army; the need for national unity is crucial at the moment, so despite the source reporting this in ill faith I am sure that there is a grain of truth in it.
Unfortunately, the authors aren’t interested in educating anybody on the causes of state suppression either. This is just another news service uncritically parroting the white establishment’s calls for régime change. Not impressed.
