    Lazar Kaganovich aka “Iron Lazar”

    10 November 1893 – 25 July 1991 (97 years)

Major Soviet administrator and politician, supporter and close friend and advisor of Stalin, devoted Marxist-Leninist, and instrumental figure in the success of the Soviet economy shortly before and post WW2.

Led the faction that opposed Khrushchev’s De-Stalinization. Advocated and constructed the Moscow metro. Was the key figure behind the implementation of collectivization, and revitalized and overhauled the agricultural sector to shore up some of the problems faced by collectivization little bit down the line, allowing it to become an immensely successful and productive system. Was instrumental in the industrialization of the Soviet Union and turned it into a world economic power. Stalin’s chosen successor, and so many more achievements.

All coming from a background of a poverty stricken peasant Jewish family on the outskirts of Kiev. He should be an inspiration to all Marxist-Leninist.

Buried with his wife in Moscow’s Novodevichy Cemetery, he would pass away mere months before the fall of the Soviet Union. Spared the site of witnessing the ruin of his life’s work and achievements for the people of the Soviet Union and world…
