A coal mine might be a good place to work if you want to have a good resume because through employment there you can give youre resume a clear sense of progress. As in, you start as a red hat contractor, become a black hat, and then get hired by the company and join the union as a GIL. Once you are a GIL you can bid for a different job. So that only takes less than a year and you already have 4 items on your resume that are each a “promotion”
The coal mine can also be a career, and it has a union that while not great is better than many others. I think more leftists should become coal miners if they aren’t sure of what they should do. It will also give you steady excersise and prepare you for any physical work that activism requires.
Sadly, I will have to wait till after the revolution to fulfill my dreams of being a coal miner. I’m stuck in the dead-end poetry business under capitalism.
