Saw a TikTok about some woman asking why men have to disturb the peace of a Saturday or Sunday morning by mowing their lawn or using a leaf blower, and you would’ve thought she went on a bigoted rant by the comment section. Like damn she was just talking about how it would be nice to enjoy a peaceful morning and random commenters took it as a personal attack. Shit you not I truly believe some suburbanites would go to war over their lawn the way they treat it like a fortress to a castle.

Is this not extremely silly when you type it all out? Time is a circle and I feel like I’m a peasant under feudalism watching kings, nobles and knights protect their land like it’s under some type of threat

I agree lawns are a symptom of the sickness of our society and generally that people should consider others when doing noisy activities ( I carry my trash down at night instead of rolling it if it’s late…) but it is considerably worse to do yard work in the afternoon sun. People also don’t have a considerable amount of free time so chores like yard maintenance fall to the weekend. Or petit bourgeois hire, mostly minority services to do this for them and these workers would like to be done before the hottest parts of the day.

I’m surprised to see lack of consideration on this for a communist site. Not everyone forced to participate or brainwashed into accepting a part of American culture is doing it maliciously. Fuck, some HOAs require residents to keep lawns a certain length and there are areas where finding housing outside of HOA communities is difficult

The communist solution is clearly central planning. Instead of people randomly doing their lawns you have a designated block of time when they get done (preferably when everyone is at work) and properly compensate those who do it. This is how they do it on US military base housing, since I imagine wrangling the just-married NCOs and their dependents to do it properly would be much more expensive and difficult.

While it’s not practical for everyone, we still do have non-motorized push mowers and rakes, which make a LOT less noise and work really well. Electric weed trimmers are also much quieter than the petrol-powered ones.
