Hi, my name is Nax. I started drinking when i was maybe 13 or 14. Never liked the concept of alcohol but I was heavily addicted and was drunk most of the time. eventually I quit but my gf broke up with me a few months back and after more than 2 years of sobriety I started again but only for 2 months. I am now almost 2 months sober again.

I also started smoking in my early teen years but never much. after starting drinking again I also picked up this old habit. I’m not a heavy smoker, but I do smoke more than ever before. Up to 15 cigarettes per day when I’m stressed. The last two weeks I was able to cut it down to 3 a day. I plan on quitting in a few months, once I’ve graduated school. Before that I can’t see myself coping with that stress any other way.

Anyways, I’m glad about this community and hope we can become healthier together.

Congrats on the two months! As long as you’re moving forward one day at a time, you’re headed in the right direction. Sometimes it takes a few times of failing, falling off the horse to ride it into that proverbial sunset of peace. I wish you the best and many more sober days ahead.

When it comes to addiction give yourself grace. They say that you should only focus on changing one habit at the time due to the significant expenditure of willpower. Don’t feel guilty for the ciggies, in time you’ll be able to shift your focus when you can. For now focus on one positive change (aka abstaining from alcohol) and don’t shift gears until yoy’re entirely comfortable in your sobriety. You got this, you’ll get there, one day at a time!

Welcome to the community, Nax, I hope you find it to be a safe, positive space for support ;)
