    A handy acronym: PLATI

    • P - never point the gun at anything you aren’t willing to destroy.
    • L - treat every gun as if it were loaded.
    • A - be aware of everything around your target, including behind
    • T - keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire.
    • I - do not handle firearms while impaired or intoxicated. This includes all mental ailments.
