The doc focuses in on the AtomWaffen group specifically, but many topics are discussed. The Oklahoma City bombing, the Charlottesville riot and other insane recent events. Many of these Fascists have military ties and at 28:20, they even mentioned that veterans would train others to use Al Qaeda or Taliban techniques to wage Guerrilla war from within the country. One of the fascists mentioned had kept a correspondence with Charles Manson. For a MSM doc, this is literally one of the best presented ones I’ve ever seen.
Liberals are so woefully unequipped to deal with fascism. Throughout the whole documentary, I feel like the host and some of his guests constantly try to make these seem like small radical groups just being crazy instead of the direct result of US militarism, and more importantly, capitalism.
I feel like not even the host really grasps the gravity of the things here. He meets one of the Atomwaffen members at the end and he goes on this weird shpeel about how the guys aren’t “physically intimidating” (again, individualizing the problem) but like…a small child is dangerous with a bomb vest.
For real… they showed the extremely dangerous substances in the apartment and then the host goes on to say “are we focusing too much on a group that’s not much of a threat?”
I think he was doing that as some sort of rhetorical ploy, but even then, even presenting it in that way is very dangerous and neglectful.
To play devil’s advocate, some documentaries say this to sorta lead a guest into talking more, but I agree that was a really really bad time to ask that hopefully rhetorical question
Oh I absolutely agree. I think it’s good to watch stories like these, not Marxist, because we can analyze what they get wrong. They also mention at one point that NeoNazis in US military are Punished “severely” when the only example they bring up is court marshaling and dishonorable discharge of ONE person. I once posted a thing on r/GenZedong a while back(rip OG GenZedong) of a US army squad(or company or something) and they had the SS nazi flag next to the American flag. I posted it and somebody asked what had happened to them. Upon looking further, the Group was told to delete pictures and nobody was officially punished. Maybe they were out in the sun longer or doing longer drills because they made the US look like Nazi sympathizers, but ultimately the US military IS Nazi sympathetic, so the real punishments don’t happen. And a few times the host is like “🙄isn’t he just like 18, what if its not a big deal” or stuff that sorta writes it off. I enjoyed the doc a lot tho
